Hey dinos! What you're about to read is a SUPER rough first draft of a story I'm writing currently called "Grimmy".
It's about a VTuber who is struggling to make ends meet through streaming alone, so she turns to OnlyFans which leads her to discover a darker side of the industry, and wrestle with the darker side of herself.
Let me know what you think either in the comments, or in my Discord server! discord.gg/bYHXjgxQxZ
Again, this is a very rough draft and tbh I haven't done much research into a lot of the subject material like the OnlyFans industry, I'm just writing what I know. Apologies if anything I've written about is any way offensive or untrue, those are things I would make a point to correct in future drafts.
A bunch of placeholder stuff here, like some of the uninspired names and especially Podo 😭that poor dog needs a better name.
Expect a new chapter every week until it's finished! At the time of writing this post, I have five chapters down.
Chapter 1
“Hey guys, I know I’ve been quiet last couple days and you’re all concerned. A stalker broke into my house the other night and I’ve just been spending time with friends to clear my head,” JRock music blasted in Grim’s ears as she read YoruFalcon’s latest post. “Don’t worry I’m fine! I’ll be back to streaming soon I just wanna make sure I’m in a good headspace first! See you soon chat!”
Grim scrolled to read the comments.
“OMG WHAT????? WHO TF—”
“BBG IM GLAD YOURE OKAY BUT WTF”
“🤡”
“nice promotional stunt for attention. pics ir it didnt happen. also no way a fatass yoru fan could leave their moms basement. i do belive the breaking into the house part tho. prolly fell through the wall LMFAO.”
The comments went on, a mixture of heartfelt concern and support, and people just being toxic and replying with obnoxious low quality gifs of random movie characters laughing.
Yoru always said she liked to keep toxic comments up because, “I like to remind normal people that if they’re feeling bad abou themselves they could always be worse.” Grim couldn’t remember the exact quote, but that was the gist of it. She remembered liking and reposting the first time Yoru said that.
Grim opened discord and clicked the first person she saw in her friend’s list, Deadmintz. Over Deadz’s avatar of a blue haired girl in a yellow raincoat, her status was green. She'd probably respond soon.
“DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO YORU????” Grim typed.
Deadmintz is typing… it said right above the text field.
“YEAH shit is crazy monkaEXTREME Part of being big like that tho I guess oriSweat,” she said, putting at the end an emote of a cartoon parrot wiping sweat from her forehead.
Grim was happy Deadz messaged back so quickly, and smiled while she typed the animated NODDERS frog emote.
Deadz didn’t say anything else. Grim glanced over at her friend’s list, none of the circles over their avatars were moving, nobody was talking to her right now. She was already in Deadz’s dms, so she figured she’d keep talking to her.
“grimSwing,” Grim sent. Her own pink-haired chibi girl mascot sat expressionless on a slow swingset.
Deadz said nothing. Her status didn’t show anything. No games, no Photoshop, nothing.
“Whatcha doin rn?” Grim asked.
Deadmintz is typing… Grim let out a relieved sigh, she didn’t realize she’d been holding her breath.
The typing message went away. Grim glanced back to her main monitor and closed Yoru’s update to see the X Following feed. She looked back and Deadz was typing again.
While she waited, Grim’s feed showed her friends posting pictures with each other at Otakon. Some of their faces were blocked by cropped pictures of their VTuber models’ heads.
A couple of them even cosplayed as their models. Grim sighed, wished she could’ve made it but she could only ever afford to go to local conventions.
Maybe next year, she thought. Then looked over at her third monitor where her Twitch Dashboard was still open.
Haven’t been doing good on views lately. Even though I’m playing all the new stuff. Why aren’t people watching like they used to? She scratched her nose. It’s summer break and this is peak viewing for most streamers this time of year, but I had more people watching during the holidays last year…
Grim was so caught up in looking at her feed and Dashboard she missed that Deadz responded three minutes ago.
“nm,” was all she said. Not much.
“epic,” Grim typed.
The doorbell rang, sending her heart racing and Podo barking and running to the living room. Grim paused her Spotify tunes and stomped out of her seat.
“Motherfuckers, I told them not to ring or knock,” she grumbled down the hall.
“Hey! Sit!” She snapped at the little white corgi, who tapped her feet and hovered her butt off the ground.
Good enough, Grim giggled. Leave it up to Podo to make you smile, she grinned.
“Don’t worry. I got you something too, girl,” Grim said, and squinted into the peephole. No one was there.
She opened the door, glanced around into an empty hallway and grabbed a plastic bag off the floor without even really looking at it.
When she plopped her order on the kitchen counter, she looked out past the french doors to her balcony, and the dark blue sky made her realize how late it was.
“Sorry monkey, I streamed too long today. No W word,” Grim said. She almost slipped up and said one of Podo’s trigger words out loud. If she did, there’d be no calming the little gremlin down ‘til she wore herself out, which could take forever.
“We’ll go on one tomorro—” she slipped up. Podo tilted her head on the word go.
“Oops…” Grim tapped the counter. “Want a treat? You want a treat girl?” she asked the now bouncing and yelping corgi.
Grim went back to her room and before sitting down with her delivered Mexican food, two avatars with little white 1s in red circles sat at the top of her friend’s list. Revylution’s profile pic of a cat sticking its tongue out, and Deadz again. She read Deadz’s message first since their dms were already open, and unpaused her music.
“oriJam,” was all she sent. A white cat emote dancing next to the raincoat girl in Deadz’s profile pc that almost always made Grim smile, if not laugh. What made it even funnier was he was kind of dancing in tune to the hearty JRock song that was on.
She sent an oriJam back. Two little cats breakdancing together to anime music. Grim’s cat danced next to her pfp of her mascot, filling the circle with her pale face and making an O motion with her head with her mouth open. Enjoying the show, Grim opened the foam to-go box, and a delicious spicy smell traveled up her nose. She took her first bite and opened her dms with Revy.
“Fortnite? pauseChamp,” Revy asked.
“Im eating rn and im tired af from my stream but maybe tomorrow mhm.” Grim said with a yellow pixel guy nodding his head and pointing. “thnx for asking tho! peepoHappy,” she smiled with a cute blushing frog.
“Alright cya tmrw oriHuggies,” Revy said.
Grim forgot she was holding her fork when she rushed to type back, and flung a huge messy piece of enchilada onto her main screen. She snorted and laughed at herself.
“I JUST GOT MY FOOD ON MY MONITOR OMEGADANXE – OMEGADANCE,” she typed, and corrected her misspelled emote before sending.
“dumbass KEKW,” Revy laughed.
“i was just gonna say im not going to bedge yst but maybe i should OMEGALUL,” Grim laughed at herself digitally and physically.
Revy responded with a hand clapping emote.
👩
Grim burped and threw her trash away. Podo was napping on the couch. Silly girl acts like she pays the rent.
When she returned to her desk, she saw a speaker symbol over the icon for Orimay’s Discord server. Deadz and her other friends were in one of the voice channels, and even Ori herself was there. No one was screen sharing anything, but most of them were unmuted. Grim’s heart got excited and she hovered her cursor over the vc, but she hesitated. She had told Revy a moment ago she wasn’t going to join anything. Grim opened her dms with Revy again and saw Fortnite in her status. “Playing with 2 others,” it read.
She couldn’t just invite Revy to hang out with Deadz and the others if she was already with someone, and she couldn’t be a hypocrite…so she closed Discord and hung out in various Twitch stream chats until she was too tired and threw herself into bed.
Grim’s tired eyes felt bloodshot as she swiped through X on her phone, until she saw those pictures of her friends at Otakon again. They took pictures with a few of Grim’s favorite streamers, the people who inspired her to get into streaming after watching some of them for almost a decade.
She kept scrolling and did a double take when she thought she saw the word “TwitchCon”. She went back up and there was a post from the official Twitch X account.
“🎉 Heading to #TwitchConSanDiego?” I wish. “Here’s your Know Before You Go! 🎉” it said.
Every time she missed a TwitchCon, Grim knew she was missing out on huge opportunities to grow. Not just that, but it was another place where her dear friends would meet up and have fun together.
She swiped up, and tried to get the upcoming event out of her mind. Grim looked for something else that she could have on her mind before putting her phone down. Nothing was doing it for her. People posted clips from their streams, or screenshots from the latest episodes of their favorite anime, and there was even a Twitlonger someone reposted about drama between some creators Grim never really watched. Now she was just seeing stuff she’d seen before.
Then something came up she scrolled past earlier and didn’t think much of, but this time it had her undivided attention. Her chat moderator, Guro, reposted something kinda spicy. A post by a creator Grim watched here and there on Twitch, but never thought to follow on X. Zylian’s real life breasts were covered up by nothing more than digital stickers with her face out of frame, and she was holding a sorcerer's staff.
“Join my OnlyFans or else I’ll cast a binding spell on you,” it said.
Grim rolled her eyes, and put the phone down, she’d seen enough for the day.
“Not for me,” she said, and shut her eyes.
Didn’t take long before the regret of missing so many years of cons came back to the forefront of her thoughts, and she curled up.
Deadz, Revy, Fru, Trick, everyone. She’d never met most of them in person, and she very much would’ve liked to. But even if she herself could afford to travel, some of her friends couldn’t. They could meet at a coffee shop or she could visit their homes, but they would still miss out on all the real fun stuff.
If she only had more views, or if more people pledged to her Patreon or watched her stream highlight videos on other platforms, maybe she could make enough money to do all the things she wants.
Then she remembered that OnlyFans post…
“I’m fucking terrified ngl”

Grimmy Chapter 1 (1st draft)
